Sri Lanka cricketer hails corporate involvement
Corporate involvement in cricket can improve the game, visiting Sri Lankan cricket legend Romesh Kaluwitharana said on Saturday.
Speaking on arrival at Chileka International Airport in Blantyre for the 2016 Sri Lanka Cricket Fiesta (SLCF), which took place at the Country Club Limbe yesterday, Kaluwitharana said he was happy to be in the country.
“I have been to various African countries and I am happy to be in Malawi. The game creates friendships. It is great that there is corporate involvement in the game from Standard Bank. This is the way to go for the development of the game,” said Kaluwitharana.
Standard Bank pumped in K1.5 million to support the event.
Born in 1969, Kaluwitharana is a wicketkeeper with a right-hand batting style. n
